Finite temperature contributions to cosmological constant

چکیده
We reexamine the cosmological constant (CC) problem in a finite temperature setup and propose an intriguing possibility of carrying out perturbative analysis by employing renormalization scheme which renormalized Higgs mass (or resummed mass, to be more precise) is taken on order cosmic microwave background (CMB) temperature. Our proposal hinges fact that although physical value CC does not depend one’s scheme, whether or fine tuning involved does. The avoided sense process no longer requires finetuning. This achieved essentially scheme-independence quantity, turn assured bare perturbation theory. shifts peculiarity consequent series for (and other massive sectors Standard Model); interpreted as indicator new physics after expected mathematical structure scrutinized. Quantum Contributions to Cosmological Correlations
The “in-in” formalism is reviewed and extended, and applied to the calculation of higher-order Gaussian and non-Gaussian correlations in cosmology. Previous calculations of these correlations amounted to the evaluation of tree graphs in the in-in formalism; here we also consider loop graphs. It turns out that for some though not all theories, the contributions of loop graphs as well as tree gra...
متن کاملQCD Coupling Constant at Finite Temperature ∗
We work out the method for evaluating the QCD coupling constant at finite temperature (T ) by making use of the finite T renormalization group equation up to the one-loop order on the basis of the background field method with the imaginary time formalism. The background field method, which maintains the explicit gauge invariance, provides notorious simplifications since one has to calculate onl...
متن کاملCosmological Constant ?
We prove that a class of one-loop partition functions found by Dienes, giving rise to a vanishing cosmological constant to one-loop, cannot be realized by a consistent lattice string. The construction of non-supersymmetric string with a vanishing cosmological constant therefore remains as elusive as ever. We also discuss a new test that any one-loop partition function for a lattice string must ...
متن کاملD-brane Spectra of Nonsupersymmetric, Asymmetric Orbifolds and Nonperturbative Contributions to the Cosmological Constant
We study nonperturbative aspects of asymmetric orbifolds of type IIA, focussing on models that allow a dual perturbative heterotic description. In particular we derive the boundary states that describe the nonsupersymmetric D-branes of the untwisted sector and their zero mode spectra. These we use to demonstrate, how some special non BPS multiplets are identified under the duality map, and give...
متن کاملA Solution to the Cosmological Constant Problem
The fluctuations of the vacuum energy are treated as a non-equilibrium process and a stochastic model for the cosmological constant is presented, which yields a natural explanation for the smallness or zero value of the constant in the present epoch and its large value in an era of inflation in the early universe. Typeset using REVTEX 1 It is widely considered that the problem of the cosmologic...
